California Department of Insurance
Insurance is a $80 billion-a-year industry in California. Overseeing the industry and protecting the state's insurance consumers is the responsibility of the California Department of Insurance (CDI). The CDI regulates, investigates and audits insurance business to ensure that companies remain solvent and meet their obligations to insurance policyholders.

The Commission on Health and Safety and Workers' Compensation is a joint labor-management body created by the workers' compensation reform legislation of 1993 and charged with overseeing the health and safety and workers' compensation systems in California and recommending administrative or legislative modifications to improve their operation.

In 1929 the California Self-Insurers Association came into being. Its stated purpose was to monitor and protect the legitimate interests of self-insurers in the workers' compensation field and to ensure that funds available would be spent to the best advantage of injured workers and their family in the event of their death.
The California Self-Insurers Association performs these functions by providing educational opportunities and legislative and regulatory support and analysis to its members.
